Privacy Policy · Codex Whip

1. Introduction
Codex Whip is an app provided by Turushan Aktay (“we”, “us”, or “our”), who is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy applies to Codex Whip and its various versions and is part of our Terms of Use. This policy explains what data the app processes, why, and your choices. Codex Whip runs on your Mac and sends us nothing: it has no account, no analytics and no servers of ours. Codex Whip shows no ads and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
We receive no data from Codex Whip. If you contact us, we receive only what you choose to send.
2. Who We Are
Codex Whip is developed and operated by Turushan Aktay, who is responsible for the processing described in this policy. Contact: turushande@gmail.com.
3. What Codex Whip Handles on Your Mac
Codex Whip runs on your Mac. It connects to the Codex daemon already running there, through a local socket, to see which Codex CLI sessions stopped at a capacity error or a usage limit, and to ask a stopped session to continue. It keeps its settings, its retry state, a small rotating log and an activity history of the last 48 hours in ~/Library/Application Support/Codex Whip. While a quota retry waits, the retry state holds a one-way hash of your Codex account ID, so a session never continues under another account; the history never contains account details. None of this leaves your Mac through Codex Whip, and we never receive it.
When Codex Whip continues a session, it sends your saved retry message to that session, as if you had typed it. Codex then sends the message to OpenAI as part of your session, under OpenAI’s own terms and privacy policy. Codex Whip does not change anything else Codex sends.
4. The Internet Connection It Makes
Once a day, Codex Whip checks for updates by downloading a signed update feed from GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com), and when you install an update it downloads the new version from GitHub. These requests send no data about you or your sessions; GitHub receives your IP address and standard request details under the GitHub Privacy Statement. System profiling is off. The daily check stays on; with Automatic Updates off in the menu, nothing downloads until you choose to install.
5. This Website
This website is served by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect the site. The site uses no cookies, analytics or tracking. If you turn on the whip sound, your browser remembers that choice in its local storage, on your device.
6. Security
Codex Whip checks the signature of every update with its built-in Ed25519 public key before installing it, and update traffic uses HTTPS. Its files on your Mac sit in your user account’s Library folder, under your Mac’s own account protection.
7. Children’s Privacy
Codex Whip is a tool for software developers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has shared personal data with us, contact us at turushande@gmail.com and we will help delete it.
8. International Transfers
Our providers process data in the United States and other countries. Where EU or UK law requires it, these transfers rely on the providers’ data protection terms, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Your Choices
Because we receive no data from Codex Whip, we have nothing to look up, correct or delete. Its data is yours: quit Codex Whip and delete ~/Library/Application Support/Codex Whip, or delete the app, to remove it. For requests about data GitHub or Cloudflare processes, contact them directly; we can help you find the right place.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted here with a revised “Last Updated” date. If a change is significant, we will announce it in the app or on this page before it takes effect, and ask for consent again where the law requires it.
